A while back and on a whim, I entered my mum for OTO's Mother's Day Makeover Contest.
What I didn't realise then was, it was a slimming competition of sorts!
My mum got to bring home an OTO Mbraze - a portable massager which combines advanced massage technology with heat therapy - to try out for 2 weeks. All contestants were encouraged to use the massager a few times a day and keep to a regular diet and exercise regime.
I did not realise it was going to be such an involved process but my mum was a real sport about it and at the end of two weeks, she returned the massager and had her measurements taken again.
Anyway, long story cut short, she eventually shortlisted as one of the six finalists. She was surprised and super excited!

At the final day of the competition at Tampines Mall, the finalists were given a glamourous head-to-toe makeover. My sisters picked out a beautiful black gown for my mum which was complemented quite nicely by her coiffed hair and makeup. She looked amazing :)

Like a true pageant show, the 3 mummy finalists did a catwalk and Q&A session on stage. My mum was quite candid and chatty on stage - you wouldn't have guessed how nervous and jittery she was! I went up the stage with the boys to say a little something about my mum too.
I never understood the magnitude of her love and patience for my siblings and I - and now, for both my sons - until I became a mother myself. She was - and still is - always there for everything. Even though I am all grown up now, she does such a great job of looking after my boys when I am at work, cooking warm meals for us to come home to and managing my household. I think, for the rest of my life, I will strive to be that one constant reassuring figure (that she was to us) to my boys.
And guess what... my mum clinched the top prize of Most Glamorous Mummy! HAHA it really made her day and she was so thrilled!
I think it wouldn't have mattered so much whether my mum won or not that day. My mum is a winner in our eyes everyday.
