Greetings from China
Thankfully, Cheok's ipod is here with us. We can actually update our blog!

I must admit that China is quite fun. We have been here a couple of days in Ningbo and it has been very interesting. We have seen some very interesting sites, and eaten some very good food. I can't wait to update proper.

Some highlights so far...

Cheok has been mistaken as a mainland Chinese quite a few times. Well till he opens his mouth and they realise his mandarin is quite weak.

They are shocked that I can speak mandarin.

We had a wonderful Japanese meal last night. We are talking about tuna, sweet shrimp sashimi, grilled cod fish, prawn tempura to name a few dishes for less than Sg$30 each! Did I mention this is with freeflow sake and Choya!?

We are leaving for Shanghai tomorrow. Justin Quek here we come! I heard that he has a four GRAS xiao long bao! Oh and we are going to do a spot of shopping.

Ok time for a spot of tea. Hope everyone is well. I truly miss being online.

I love China! It has so much to offer in terms of food, culture, sightseeing, entertainment etc. And it's generally quite cheap to visit China.
vanessafridavanessafrida on June 30th, 2008 11:53 am (UTC)
food yes, the rest I think we'll have a clearer picture in shanghai
genetonicgenetonic on June 30th, 2008 02:15 pm (UTC)
Shanghai not much to sightsee. If you have time, do a day trip either to Suzhou or Hangzhou. Go by train early in the morning and return in the evening. The trains are reliable and clean (take the more expensive seats).

last comic standing in shanghai
haha, i read cheok's blog for the china updates, he's darn funny...man, his humour one kind. Ive beenm used to my husband's caustic deadpan humour so cheok's rants and raves are a breath of fresh air. Where does he come up with all those local comparisons? Believe me, its a compliment. Its not easy being funny. Anyone who can make me laugh is a talent. :')))

catnip plant
hey, i recall there were a series of posts on growing herbal gardens etc and I did see a picture you posted on your own herbal garden which looks totally awesome. Im trying to get a catnip plant and was wondering which orchard has a good variety of herbal plants. maybe I can call them to enquire if they have such a plant. thanks in advance!
vanessafridavanessafrida on July 4th, 2008 01:50 pm (UTC)
Re: catnip plant
thanks...erm i just went to far east flora for my herbs...i think there are cheaper places but this was just easy....and it has been a great journey...except my rosemary keeps dying i have given up
