Cooling off after their race (it was a really warm day)
One of the things I like about Aussies....their work hard and play hard attitude. That was one of the first thing i noticed about them when i first moved to Australia at a tender age of 16.
They took their studies very seriously, sports was not just a chore but something they tried hard to excel in and of course when it came time to party....they really carved it up.
Well it is no difference with this group of dragonboaters. They trained really hard leading up to the race......they got up early for training before work, they turned up after work for even more training.
Days leading up to the race, they stayed away from alcohol.....one of them even holed himself at home straight after work so that he wouldn't be tempted to have a beer. For a Aussie...that is mighty effort. hahaha.
The weekend of the race (and most were involved in multiple events), they were mindful of what they ate, ensuring that whatever they ate will digest in time for their race, they were even concerned about ingredients in the food because some stuff like onions take longer to digest.
I am proud to say the mince chicken pasta and shepherds pie I brought over the weekend got inhaled in supersonic time. *grin* And i made like a turkey tray full of pasta or pie each day.
One of the boaters with a really sweeeeet camera just posted up pictures of the weeend, and they are honestly too nice not to share. It shows not just the serious race side of the team, but also the fun and zany bits.
