Les Bouchon

I have been meaning to check out this French steakhouse for ages!  I think it has been about a year.  I have heard a lot of my close friends rave about the steaks.  The ribeye is suppose to be juicy, and the free flow fries are to die for.

I have been meaning to catch up with a particular friend for months, but our schedules kept clashing, finally on Monday we were both available.  (we were both on leave)  Excellent!

Ness:  So what do you feel like eating?
Ben:  Steak or Mexican
Ness:  I have an excellent place we can check out for steaks!!  Btw, I don't eat Mexican :P

So...we trooped down to Les Bouchon, Ann Siang Road.  It's a tiny restaurant.  They do have a branch at Robertson Quay, but i have heard mixed reviews about the service, the Ann Siang Road outlet is the original restaurant.

The restaurant seats maybe about 40 pax in total?  I would advise making a reservation if you plan to go down.  You could end up being disappointed.

We ordered what everyone raves about...Ribeye steak medium rare.  I didn't realise it came with a complimentary salad, and warm bread rolls.  CHING CHING!  Points to them.  Countless restaurants I have visited serve cold bread rolls...even The Cliff at Beaufort Hotel.  That is just form!  How difficult is it to warm bread rolls!

The bread was great.  Crisp on the outside, flufffy and moist on the inside.  Slap on some butter and we were good to go.  We made sure we didn't fill our tummies on salad because I have heard that the steaks are huge.  Boy were we glad we stopped ourselves.  The steak was huge!!

The salad....the mustard dressing was tasty!

The steak with herbed butter and fries

The steak was juicy..done just right.  Full of flavour.  They bring a whole lot of condiments for you...which is excellent.  Different mustards and....creamed HORSERADDISH!!!  Yummies!!  The steak gets 8 out of 10 from me.

Now to the fries.  Everyone raves about their fries.  I thought they were so so.  But that is because I like the skinny fries.  Think MacDonalds style.  These were kind of fat....so it was as crispy.  So they get only 6 out of 10.

This place was perfect for our catchup.  Nice and quiet...good food...decent house red... .  This place would be great for a friendly catchup, date night, first date etc.  You get the idea.
